Odd OS X Entourage 10.1.6 error. Please help?

Hi- I've been helping a friend fix their Macintosh and they've got a bizarre error with their copy of Entourage that I can't figure out.

There were a pair of deleted emails (perhaps with corrupted attachments) that were throwing an unexplained "Mail Error" whenever we tried to empty the Deleted Items folder.

I left the room for a while, he fiddled with it some more (I have no idea what he did), and now the Deleted Items folder shows NOTHING within it, even though there most definitely ARE undeleted messages inside it. Trying to empty-out the Deleted Items folder throws the same "Mail Error" that we got before.

I really have no idea what's going on or what this error is all about. Can anyone help me?

Entourage has serious bugs. Find another mail client.

Download Thunderbird it's by far the best email client.

Well, okay

All right, Entourage might very well be a bad client but it's not my computer and I don't really have the authority to change what client he uses.

Is there a suggested fix for this problem?

The suggested fix is to stop using Entourage. Otherwise you or your friend will need to wait for Microsoft to fix it's bugs.

And I disagree with Jim Powermail is the best mail client.

Ummm

Ookay-- in the event that "Get a new email client" is not an option, are there any suggested fixes?

And if there aren't any suggested fixes, can you tell me where I can find a forum where one can get useful answers instead of dismissive chuckling?

I don't know how much clearer "It's an Entourage bug" can be. What possible solutions to poor application programming do you expect?? You expect us to tell you how to rewrite Microsoft application code?

The best solution is to USE ANOTHER EMAIL CLIENT.
