Boot from an OS9 CD and use the Drive Setup application to erase and reformat the hard drive, then install OS9.

1 problem with that, the OS 9 cd works, and is read, but it wont allow us to boot from it, or to install it, Mac said that it was made for " a specific hard drive". If you have a solution to this, would be most grateful, thanks

Youll need a retail OS9 CD, or the OS CD that shipped with the Mac you are working with. An OEM OS9 CD from another Mac won't work in many cases.
