How to access captioning on a DVD?

I live in a Senior Citizen Complex and am one of the few people that knows how to start the DVD movies we rent for our entertainment. We have quite a number of people who do not hear so well. I realize that most DVDs have English subtitles that are accessable. I do not know how to find out if this is so and how to select the english ones to run. :(

Provided the DVD has subtitles you should be able to access them through the menu on your remote control.
