:upset: When I have been working on my computer for a short period of time ½ hour to 1 hour, my gland on the left side of my neck begins to ache. I purchased a LCD monitor because they are supposed to give of less radiation and an anti glare screen for the static, I even sit 3 feet away from the desk, none of these have helped. After reading on the Internet of similar experiences other people have suffered, the only explanation must be the electrical field the computer gives off. Is there anything I can buy or make to neutralise the electrical field. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi happyson

Welcome to CTH

I suspect that what you are experiencing has more to do with your chair and posture than any electric or magnetic field effects. Pinched nerves, tense muscles and all that are a big cause of what you feel happening.

Take a look at these ergonomic guidelines (http://ergo.human.cornell.edu/ergoguide.html) for a few hints.

Stop EMF Waves (http://www.emf-health.com/biopro-universalchips.htm)
I believe you believe it but I have a hard time believing it myself.
No help, huh?;)

You need to take measurements and not second-guess if a magnetic field problem exists.
Buy a magnetic field meter (http://www.lakeshore.com/mag/elf/efm.html) and look for numbers from different distances from the monitor.

You cannot get a sore neck from exposure to a magnetic field, like Ned says this would be a posture-related thing. Besides, a PC does not emit a strong enough electro-magnetic field to reach you from 3 feet away, in fact EM radiation is lucky to go further than the PC case - unless it's seriously electrically faulty, in which case you're more likely to be electrocuted than bombarded with EMI. Led shielding is pretty much the closest thing you're going to get to consumer-grade EM protection.
