Dual Monitor Out Problem
I recently built a computer specifically for M$ Powerpoint. That's it's only purpose, so it requires dual monitor out. It's a PIII 550 on a Win 2K OS (All 4 SPs) using a Jaton Video-198PCI-64 Twin dual view video card with newest drivers straight from the NVidea site. The Two Monitors will be a Sony Trinitron as the Primary, and an NEC LT265 Projector as the tertiary monitor, This works flawlewssly with two monitors, but when I hook it up to a projector (NEC LT265) it has problems recognizing it as a monitor. I can force it to recognize it if, once everything is booted up,I physically swap the monitors on the back of the PC, so Projector is primary and Sony is seconday, then right back again. But that is an unacceptable situation for something that is going to be a permanent install.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Check out this NEC support page. It may be you need to install some additonal software.
A little more than halfway down that page are links to download: Image Express Utility 2.0 (Ver.1.01.0003) Desktop Control Utility 1.0 (Ver.1.01.0003) Viewer PPT Converter 3.0 (Ver.3.00.0000) PC Control Utility 3.0 (Ver.3.00.0002) PC Control Utility Pro 3.0 (Ver.3.00.0000) Geometric Correction Tool 3.0 (Ver.3.00.0000) Image Express Utility 2 for Mac OS (Ver.1.0.0) User's Manual |

Not 100% sure that's the solution, but it does give me an option that I didn't think of. thanks for the direction.

Ahh...But I just remembered something. We've been running this for weeks without problem on a laptop. No problem there for Dual monitor.

I figured this out
So, the only way I could get the Projector as monitor 2, was to set it up as the primary monitor, and the Sony as the secondary monitor, then physically switch them. Well, that's obviously unacceptable as a solution, plus whenever you shut either the projector or computer off, it'd lose that second monitor...Also unacceptable. So, as Holmes is so fond of saying, "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbably, must be the truth." So, the only truth I had: The only way to consistantly get this monitor to recognize is to set it to Monitor 1. So I did. I set the Sony as Secondary monitor, and routed all Windows functions and controls to the second monitor. Now when it boots up it's forced to recognize an "Analog Source" as the primary monitor, since it HAS TO HAVE a primary monitor, and it also has to recognize the secondary monitor, as that's where all the windows functions are set to. Success! And Powerpoint works too! |
