File Sharing On A Wireless Network

Hi chaps and chapesses

I have recently managed, after much confusion, managed to install my wireless connection so that my desktop PC and my laptop are sharing an internet connection. My Daughter and I have both tried to enable file and printer sharing but have so far failed. (we are in seperate locations and networks)
We've followed every instruction we could find and we've both got the icons with the hand on which indicates the folders are shared, but we can't find our second computers to share with!!
I am running ME on my desktop which is my main computer, and XP Home on my laptop. My Daughter has XP home throughout. Can anyone suggest what we could try next?
I've enabled file sharing etc but still no good.

If you're still having issues after going through, just let us know and we'll continue from there. The XP to XP should be easy. The main thing is to make sure you are using the same workgroup and that a firewall isn't interfering.
