Connection Refused

When I try to go to some sites like Google it says that "The connection was refused when attempting to contact google.com". The sites won't work on Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, or Internet Explorer.

Can someone please help me?

EDIT: Just saw another thread with people having the same problem. Sorry.

EDIT #2: It looks like the people in the other thread had a different problem. I don't have a lot of computers connected together. Just one.

Welcome

Firstly run a Spyware scan and Antivirus scan.

Also check Firewalls to see if you have those sites blocked

No viruses and I got rid of the spyware, but it still doesn't work. I don't think I have a firewall since my system is Windows ME.

BTW, thank you for the welcome.

How did you get rid of the spyware? Sometimes those badies can hang around if you don't take them out the right way. Make a post in Cyber Safety if you haven't already and ask them to help you find and get rid of spyware. After you get a clean bill of health from them you may end up having to use LSP fix or the like to fix a broken winsock layer.

Thank you. I think that might be the problem. I'll see if I can get some help from them.
