View Full Version : Internet Explorer annoying problem

Hello all,

A few days ago I had to run Windows XP repair and everything looks normal except for an annoying problem with Internet Explorer. Once I open it it seems to be working fine, browsing and opening web site but from time to time I get error message saying:"The instruction at 0x1a447796 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read".

Once that message appears all open IE windows close down and I have to restart them. I have tried to reinstall IE but problem keeps appearing. Scan with SpyBot gave some results HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-299502267-1482476501-839522115-1003\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer\NoActiveDesktopChanges!=W=0. Any ideas what is wrong with IE or how to fix this problem?

Here is my HJThis log:

Hi mesak, I can see a few problems in your log but I would like to try Silent Runners and see what it reports. Go here (http://www.silentrunners.org/) and download Silent Runners to your Desktop and run it. Please post the information back in this thread. If your AV queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious.

Download Pocket Killbox from here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/download/section/adware-spyware-removal), unzip the file to your Desktop and have it ready to use.

When you have done this, Boot into Safe Mode (restart your PC and tap F8 as it restarts)and run Hijack This again. Check the below entries and click on Fix Checked.

Run Killbox now. Copy and paste the full file path of the below file in the box and click on Delete on Reboot. Next click on the button with the red circle and an X in the middle. You will get a message saying "File with be deleted on next reboot, click "Yes". Process and Reboot now?" Click "Yes" to reboot.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\IEFilter1.dll

Post a new Hijack This log. If you still get the error using IE, try uninstalling GetRight and see if it goes away.

That's good news mesak and you are very welcome. :)

I would like you to check to see if the below service is running though.

Service - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Service.exe

Go to Start > Run and type:

services.msc

and ok. Can you see it?
