Fedora Core 4 on a SATA HDD

Configuration :

Intel 2.8GHz HT with Intel 865GBF Mboard.

SATA 160GB HDD.

Win XP.

Have the fedora core 4 latest distribution copy. However, just trying to enter LINUX has not been easy to say the least.

At first, it used to get stuck at the same point with a line like :

kernet_thread .... something and nothing happened after that. CD stops reading.

Then, this is exactly what I tried :

linux noprobe (didn't work, so restarted and booted by CD again)
linux <options>

SOMEHOW, it recognized the HDD and at the last stage of installation, gave an error msg saying that couldn't allocate coz the /dev/sda9 is busy. I pressed Cancel (I THINK) and then I never got the GUI screen again by typing linux <options> Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I really want to learn Linux, but hurdles at the first stage so need help. Somebody please give me a solution. Have heard that Fedora Core 4 latest dis. 'should work fine' for SATA HDDs'. Has anybody really installed on a similar config and has it working? Please help.

Using linux noprobe is not a good idea, usually, since it doesn't probe -any- of your hardware, meaning you'll have to manually install the hardware later.

Go into your bios, and see if you can find an option labled 'cool and quiet'. If you do, turn it off. Then try booting linux again.

Also, when you boot fedora, don't type in 'linux <options>' just type in 'linux'.

Hm, none at all? If you could, post the exact error you get when booting (normally, none of this 'linux <options>') the cd.
