Hi all!
I am thinking of buying an Apple iBook for myself, and would like it to have an internet connection. We already have 1mb Broadband for one pc for our Dell Windows 2000 PC downstairs, and my question is would it be possible to connect the iBook wirelessly to this connection so I can use it upstairs (I am planning on having a one pc connection still, and just taking it in turns) without too much hassle? I am on a bit of a budget, so what could you recommend?
I apologise if this is a bit of a stupid question, i'm no computer brainiac!
Thanks
Matilda

If you want the ibook to connect wirelessly then your best best for being secure and easy to setup would be to get a wireless router. That way you could plug the desktop pc into it and use the ibook with a wi-fi adaptor to connect to the internet using the router. In order to use the ibook wireless you "have" to use at the very least a wi-fi access point but by the time you buy one and then the headache of setup to use with the other pc sharing the connection you would be better off getting a wi-fi router, and buying the ibook with built in wi-fi.

THANKYOU!!!:) :) :) That was really helpful! Any particular wireless routers anyone can recommend?
BTW, would that work if the Main PC is not wi-fi compatible? At the moment we have a USB Modem

Alot of people will swear by the brand they use but I don't really do that. When I give advice on what router to get for the everyday home use setup I say simple is good. What you want to look for is ease of use and setup with good to awesome tech support. Two brands that seem to offer both and aren't that expensive seem to be Linksys and Dlink. I myself at home have two linksys routers and they have never failed me once. Sure you are going to hear the odd horror story about linksys but thats true with any brand of any product. With that in mind here are two links to routers that would work very well for what you need....

I don't know what kind of ibook you were looking to get but these both have built in 802.11G wi-fi...
