Can I reinstall a newer version (8.0) without losing my address book and my sent, saved, and deleted emails?

In reinstalling a newer version, do I first uninstall the first version? Will this delete my data above?

My current Netscape email program developed a glitch; it alters incoming attachments so that the attachment can't be opened. That's why I think the only fix is to uninstall and re-install the program. But I dread losing my address book and old emails. (In earlier versions of Netscape, the personal address book was a file titled PAB_.

Thanks for any help....

Welcome :)

I would think that the upgrade will keep your current data.

You may want to back it up just incase. I would backup the netscape program files folder and your documents & settings folder

Degsy, I infer from your email that I must UNinstall my current program and totally reinstall the ver. 8.0. That's very intimidating. In a previous version I used, the older version was nothing like my present version and I had to manually re-type me extensive address book. At least I had the PAB file with the text of addresses. The current version has no PAB and I can't find the present file with the addresses. I suppose I could re-install the current version....
Thanks for the reply.
