So is wireless or non-wireless better? I've been on a wireless connection for about a week and I've had regular fluctuations on 2 out of the 7 days. By regular I mean every 15-30 minutes. This is the first time I've used wireless and I can't decide whether to stay with it or get a line in my room. I'm 50/50. Which connection is more STABLE?

Thanks!

Wired is more stable, wireless is more convienent. Wireless was meant to be used in areas not easily accessed by wires.

I'm thinking about switching from cable to wireless through a new company in town called "Clearwire". I'm concerned about its security, because I do my banking and shopping online. Here is their answer to this question. What do you think:

How secure is the connection? Is it more secure than Wi-Fi?

Your Clearwire connection is very secure. That’s because Clearwire wireless technology uses OFDM transmission protocol, featuring a design standard that includes secure wireless data transmission. Wi-Fi operates on unlicensed 2.4GHz frequencies, making it vulnerable to scanning and packet interception. Clearwire operates at licensed 2.5GHz frequencies. Licensed frequencies and OFDM make for a very secure connection.

Clearwire is just another entry in broadband internet service. Without protection it is not particulary safe (in my opinion), or any safer than other wireless. If they can do it, it can be hacked. If wired is cheaper, I would keep it.

Any wi-fi is as secure as the folks that operate it make it. That is to say anything wi-fi with time and effort can be "hacked" but thats not to say it WILL happen. Security is one issue but to me a wi-fi ISP would worry me more with stable connectivity. Unless you are in a pretty hot coverage area your connection could be up and down and the speeds too. Wi-fi has come a long way in down the road and it improves it may be the way to go for an ISP but for now my money would still be on a wired always on land based ISP. This of course is just MHO.

Thanks, bad and minorgeek, my gut feeling is to stay with cable connection, too.
