Ok, i have a cable modem hooked up to a linksys befsx41 router that is brand new, and the internet goes in and out. I do not have to reconfigure anything when this happens, but it is annoying and i would like help solving this issue. There is one pc hooked directly to the router, and two pcs hooked up to a hub that is connected directly to the router. Any help will be appreciated.

Its probably due to variance in reception form your netowkr (Cable provider)

Im also on a router and the speed changes ALOT!!! Its really not as good as they say it is!!!!!!! (And anything wireless is not that reliable usually unfortunetly)

Good luck & welcome Aboard :)

Have you setup the router to use your connection type? Is the MTU set to auto or 1500? Does the connection drop for all computers or just the ones connected to the hub?

Hi,
Another thought...

You never said which OS you are using but -
Windows XP has a LAN auto-disconnect feature that can close a network connection if Windows detects that the connection is idle.
Try this:
Click Start and Run, type in 'regedit' and click on OK.
In Regedit browse to; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters, double click on the 'Autodisconnect' value, enter '0xffffffff' (8 f's) and click on OK
Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Let me know if this works ;)
