Now I have to start this by saying I haven't been watching the Olympics at all until the last half hour and I'm not even sure if the gymnastics I'm seeing is live or not or a re-hash, BUT! I heard something about the vault bar being "not right" and it caused several people to mess up big time. Well hey, is that right? I say NO! Shouldn't they have been allowed to go over after the problem was fixed? Maybe they were.......I'm not informed enough, shouldn't even be posting this probably. But that sure rubs me the wrong way! And WHY was it not properly set up?? GRRRR!

I think I know what your talking about...I heard something about the landing mat myself..I don't know what the deal would be...??? Maybe the officals do it just to irritate the athletes....haha I haven't been watching much at all.....I am a bad t.v. viewer.. http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/frown.gif

Yes, perhaps it was the mat itself, or maybe the mat and the bar. Hmmmmmmmmm........I'm going to listen for more details on this!

OK - here's the story - the Vault in the first two rotations of the womens individual allround competition was 5 centimetres (two inches)!! to low.
This resulted in several women coming to grief and having shocking scores.
After the Russian favourite landed short on her knees thay decided to do something about it. The competitors were allowed to repeat the rotations but by then it was all over.

Thanks for that info! Completely inexcusable, if you ask me! And okay, even if they were allowed to go over, as you say it was all over by then, besides the fact that it had to have a huge mental effect on the vaulters! What a shame! You work half your life to get to that point and they make the bar two inches short?! Whoa!

They've also changed the rules in the swimming events so no more false starts.
If you move when on the blocks at the start then your diqualified.
I was thinking, what would happen if you stepped up to the block to take your marks and what with all the nerves and tension you bend over to touch your toes and let rip with a serious butt buster fart PPHHHFFfffffffffttttttt....
Ya think that would be enough to disqualify you?
It's not like you moved or anything.
Just a thought. http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

I dunno Sharpy but I'd wager it would be a guaranteed way to get the guy next to you disqualified - I bet he moves!

Well if they held it until they were in the water they could probably win every race with that jet power!
