Can't Download files...need help!
I'm using IE 5.5 and I have win98. When I click on a link to download a file or an .exe program....I get a funny looking little box in the upper left hand corner of the download page and nothing downloads. The box is same as the type youy get when a picture doesn't display.
What can be causing this and what does that little box mean?...but most important, how do I fix it???? George |

The information in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, Blank Web Page with Placeholder Icon and You Cannot Save a File to Disk should help you fix the problem.

I went into those files just to look and under the EXE folder and some others...it shows "Netzip" as the default. I deleted NEtzip quite some time ago. Could this be the cause?
If so...what do I replace as the " Default" value in those reg keys? George |

I'm not sure I'm clear what you're asking. When you delete the Extensions key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins as the MS article instructs, there shouldn't be anything left there in which to enter a default value.
