I work on two computers, both of nearly the same type, both on windows 98 se, one at home without any Internet connection, the other one connected by ADSL.
Today I downloaded from an Internet site a series of jpg files. I checked them after saving and they all could be viewed without hitch. Then I copied them to a floppy and took them home for processing.
On my home computer 26 of the 30 files open without problem, the four remaining cannot be viewed by any of my graphic programs. The error message says that they cannot be read. All the files are from the same document and of the same form.

BTW I had a similar problem with pdf files. The pdf, which I convert from Word on my home computer, can be opened, but I cannot read on Acrobat 6 at home pdf files transferred from my work one. I am not sure, but perhaps the problem is the same as with jpg.
Please advise.
Thanks

Do the floppies play back at work now? If you are getting all but 4, sounds like a transfer problem. Can you put the data on a cd?

The jpeg format is easily corrupted in transfer. The 4 files in question most probably became corrupted during the download. You could try downloading them again or a repair/recovery program like PicRecovery;

I would agree that they got corrupted when transferring. That has happened to me when I took the pictures. If you still have them where you originally put them see if those 4 can still be viewed.
