network device wount connect

I got 2 computers with ethernet cards in them, my main one has 2. one for the modem, and one for the "network". I installed the new cards, connected them, but not connection... xp says "anetwork cable is unplugged" whats going on???

Have you enabled ICS for the first network card on pc1? What you would need to do is enable ICS on the network card for the modem. For the other network card can be statically addressed or I have seen it work with obtian ip auto as well as dns. Then with a cat5 patch cable go from the 2nd network card to the network card on pc2.
