my ipod has been formatted to windows, but now that I have bought a new mac G5, it is not being recognized on the computer. The pod is a 4GB mini. I have followed standard procedures for this problem (restarting, downloading updater software etc...). I went to restore, but again it would not read the ipod. Any ideas? I get the charge symbol, but nothings showing up on the finder. Is it the ipod? computer?

You need to reformat your ipod for mac on a windows PC. Look at apples site for info on this, should be done in itunes prefrences I think. You will loose all your music.

Here is a step-by-step procedure to getting your iPod up and running.

1. Download the latest version of iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) on your iMac G5.

2. Download the latest version of iPod Updater (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/) on your iMac G5.

3. Plug in your iPod into your iMac G5.

4. Open the latest version of iPod Updater on your iMac G5. Click "Restore". (You will lose all of your music)

5. When your iPod is done restoring, click "Update" on iPod Updater. (If needed)

6. Open iTunes, and update your iPod. (Put all songs in iTunes onto your iPod).

I have just changed my iPod (U2 model) from my Windows PC to my new G5. It took a few go's, mainly my fault, the instructions are in the iPod help section. I did not lose anything, in fact now have full library on both machnes and intact on the iPod. Just follow the instructions.
