I've got a Compaq Windows 98SE disk. Some of the files are .cex and I don't know how to use them. How would I go about making the whole CD useable?

I Googled the file extension and came up with this;
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=CEX
I know this isn't much help, but I don't think you can use those files.

CEX is the file extension for the Caddie Exchange file

This is software used by engineers. They will come with that type of software. Windows always has extra stuff in case you need it. Like all kinds of different drivers, but on Win98 they would be old anyway.

Yep. I found out that it's a OEM disk. Pretty much means it's bootable only. When I put the disk into the CD drive in my laptop it just skips it and boots regularly (even with me telling it to start with CDROM first). I put it into my desktop and it recognizes it immediately. What would be causing my laptop to skip reading the disk?

Watch closely while the machine is booting. You could be missing the question to boot to the CD-ROM. It may say something like "Boot to CD-ROM" for a few seconds, then continue the boot if the "enter" key is not pushed.
