Exclamation help on installing software

i recently downloded a Real Player 10 package (.rpm) to replace the helix player so that i can play MP3's. So i run the command: rpm -i <rpm filename> in the terminal window. After the installation is successful, I go to Applications => Sound & Video, from there i can see the Real Player 10 program. However, when i run the Real Player, it does not execute and nothing shows up... i should i do to run this program? thanks.

What distro are you running? Do you know if the .rpm package you downloaded is supported under your distro?

I'm using a Fedora Core 4. I don't know if its compatible, since there's no given info on their website (http://www.real.com/linux) or release notes.

Have you tried yum? http://www.fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware

Try installing realplayer through yum.

i also tried yum using the command: su -c 'yum install <filename.rpm>' but it gives me an error message saying it is an "unsigned package".

Try 'yum search realplayer'. See/post what that returns.
