Exclamation mac osx re-install

Hi, after installing mac osx on my imac several month ago-i've forgotten my password!(like a fool)
Mac help says I can reinstall the disk but it will wipe the destination disk. Thats OK - but when the installer programme runs it asks me for the same password that I cant remember! A vicious circle!- abain mac help says choose options in the installer destination pane- but I cant find any option buttons.

Can anyone help my frustrated self?

regards

Mat

Hi,
You need to boot the Mac from the install CD or DVD by having the disc inserted and restarting the Mac and immediately after the startup chime, hold down the "C" key and keep it held down untill you see the install screen. Then go to the top menu bar and click on it and select "Change Password" then you should be sorted.
