Hey there,

i have equipment in my lab and i want to use some software to sign in and sign out the equipment when people are using it. Any suggestions? or do you have an access template for this?

Welcome :)

How basic or complicated did you want it?

For basics you could have a spreadsheet where a user can type a name or userid in a sign-in and sign-out column and have a date associated.

moving on you could have a database when users could enter their name or userid & pass and submit it to login, and again to logout.
Not sure if there are any Access templates already available though.

More advanced options would be to have handwriting recognition or swipe cards to automate the process.
I'm guessing that would be a dedicated piece of software though.

You may also want to checkout Timesheet software

There are some Attendance and Time Card templates here

Keep in mind that you can use a template initially setup for another task for your own situation.

Thanks for the tips.

The thing that complicates this somewhat is that i need to keep the history on it.

eg:
equipment person signout signin person signout signin ...
camera sally 3/5/05 3/8/05 tom 4/10/05 5/2/05

Want to be able to see what the LATEST info is (eg if its signed out, and if so, by who) but still want to keep the old info about who signed things in the past. - like a library catalog.

any ideas?
