View Full Version : OE 6 showing attachment file for AVG message

I have OE6 and the latest free version of AVG. When I turn on my email scanner in AVG, every email I receive has a little paperclip next to it signifying file attached. All the file is is this:

No virus found in this incoming message.
Checked by AVG Free Edition.
Version: 7.1.362 / Virus Database: 267.12.8/162 - Release Date: 11/5/2005

I don't want it to do that because I then have to check every email I get to see if the person really did attach a file or if it's just AVG or OE doing that annoying thing again.

Can I stop this from happening but still have email protection? Is there a setting I'm missing in OE that I have set to show it as an attachment instead of at the bottom of each email?

I was referred to an avg board to ask my question and I got a response that worked perfectly!

TraGreg,

Yes you can stop it, but nromally if you look just above the email, it will show a list of the files that are attached, that should show you if you have an attachement from someone.

Here is how you stop it:

1: Open AVG control center
2: Double Click "email scanner"
3: Click on "Configure"
4: Uncheck "Certify Mail" (not "check mail" you still want it to scan just not certify)

It is done.

This will still certify the mail, but you will not longer have the message showing the certification and thus no longer the "attachement".

Hope this helps & have a good day,
Normandie
