Hey, new here great forum from what I see.

I am having an issue with ITUNES. I basically burned my entire CD collection using Windows Media Player, so I have about 8k of WMA files. I want Itunes to convert ALL of these to the ITUNES format (or MP3) I have an IPOD so I need them in this format.

Problem is when I import from the Music folder, it converts some , duplicates others and I am left with a mix of WMA, MP3 and MP4 (ipod format) not to mention the files that are converted then duplicated. SO I have like 1 song in 2 or 3 diff formats. Multiply this by 8k of songs.

What would be the easiest way to get them all to the ITUNES format (so as not to lose any music) they are all my personal music.

Is it consolidate? Is it Import? I have no idea what to do next and I am wasting about 25gb worth of HD space and its annoying me to no end.

Thanks in Advance.

Two things to check: one is the settings in WMP. Make sure in tools>options>rip music it's set to mp3 format, the bitrate u want and the save location you want. That should rip the file to the right format. If that doesn't solve problem, import them directly from cd to itunes... go to edit>preferences>advanced and set it to 'import songs' on cd insert; import using 'mp3 encoder' and choose your bitrate. So next time you pop a cd in and start itunes it should copy the files to your HD in mp3 format.
