Firewall warning help
My 2nd computer has a new clean install of win 98 SE with Goback 3.0 and did not install MSN 9, but just use a DUN and Firefox and been working fine for a week.
Just now went online and got a popup from my firewall (Sygate free), & said "Win32 kernel core component (kernel32.dll) is trying to broadcast an ICMP type 10 (router solicitation) packet to [224.0.0.2}" What is this ?. Even if its harmless i must have done something or been somwhere that made this come up i guess, but still learning about computers. Want to keep pc clean and safe so maybe just revert to a week ago with Goback ?. Thanks for any help. |

Copied from the Sygate site:
You will see this every single time you try to logon to the internet, its perfectly normal windows behaviour and is nothing to worry about. Sygate identified it correctly and informed you exactly what it is and what it is trying to do. It's a router solicitation request. Windows networking is trying to find the nearest router to pass packets through. If you feel more secure denying it access, you can leave it off, it's completly up to you. Either way its nothing malicious trying to 'sneak' in/out of your system. |
