need to install 98se

daughter installed a version of windows xp which gave her a 30 day trial of it now wants to know how to install 98 disk says go to dos promt how would she do this?

there is no other way to install 98se over windows xp without partioning and formatting hard drive

Only if your daughter had used an upgrade cd and kept the original Win98 files when prompted.. Otherwise, no you can't downgrade an operating system install without formatting..

You will also have to Fdisk in this case to remove the non-DOS (NTFS) partition before you can fdisk to set a Primary DOS partition and then format that partition to install 98..
