Cannot open Internet explorer

Using windows 98. Internet explorer usually opens automatically when I go online. For past two days every time I go online I get a message telling me that Internet Explorer cannot be opened as another version of it is currently running. I am asked to shut down windows and re-start computer.
I keep doing this but the problem still persists. Any help would be appreciated. Please reply to Email removed by mod: Murray

Double click on my computor/control panel/add/remove programs and click on IE to remove. It should ask you if you want to repair it. Repair it and see if that fixes it.
