I was just wondering could anyone help. Im trying to reset my computer to factory settings with the bundled software already on hard drive. Im trying to use a packard bell recovery floppy with created master cds. The problem is that since updating the system bios, when i use the recovery program, a prompt tells me there is no valid information on the computer. I have tried to manually update the hidden sectors on the hard drive, following advise from packard bell, to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? Id really appreciate the help. Thanks.

Hi
and welcome to CTH far as I know, packard bell use a BIOS tattoo... I have put a new hard disk in a packard bell once, and did not have to mess with putting info on a hard drive before it would accept the recover program I wonder what went wrong... did you use a BIOS upgrade from Packard bell themselves? did you save the OLD bios to floppy?

hi jaak,
ita an imedia 6300 with bundled software. im actually getting totally fed up with the damn thing at this stage so i was wondering: Its an oem operating system (ie: preinstalled)so if i format the c drive, can i reinstall the OS (WinME) by using the master cds. As far as i can gather, the master cds work on the basis that there is hidden information on the hard drive, so would the formatting void this? Thanks again for ur time. All the best John |
