I am interested in learning more about this ccleaner.com has anyone else tried this? How new is this program? Is is better than just deleting cookies and temporary internet files? I went through the tour, but I want to hear from others who have tried this.

Most everyone in the free world uses CCleanerŠ. It's a lovely piece of software. :)

Eraser (http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/default.php) is also good; the difference is Eraser will securely delete private data, but is slower and does not clean the registry, or private data from as many applications as CCleaner.

I will certainly give it a try. Thank you all for your votes of confidence... if there are any programs like wipedrv that will allow me to completely erase a harddrive to do a "clean" install please let me know.

If you just need to erase a drive and aren't terribly concerned about privacy, a simple format and reinstall of the OS is all that's needed. If you do need absolute security, Eraser comes with the "Darik's Boot and Nuke" utility, which will securely erase any hard drive attached to the PC when it's run.
