Outlook express

My friends computer has just developed a send problem.
Hit send then Norton scans the outgoing and says it was unable to send and to retreive from sent items then try sending again.
I disable Norton auto protect but no difference.
ran sfc. Came back with one maybe corrupt setupx.dll. The mail sometimes sends on the second try sometimes not the problem is that it goes into sent items even if it did not send.
Any ideas on this one please????

Hi Jaytee - What OS does your friend have? The reason I ask is because SFC is buggy in Win98 and often identifies files as being corrupt when there is nothing wrong with them.

Could you also tell us what version of Outlook Express he/she is using and also what version of Norton is installed.

Hi again Jaytee - Check that his pop3 server address is correct, then re-enable Norton Auto-Protect. Now try disabling email protection (in Options I think) and see if the problem persists.

Auto-Protect will scan any incoming files, including email, as they are saved to the hard drive. As long as the virus definitions are up to date and Auto-Protect is kept enabled and set to scan files as they are created or downloaded, the system is still fully protected.
