It is reported that Bill Gates will leave most of his money to charities and his children only get 10 million each. That would mean that 0.02% of his money will go to his kids. Think about having so much money that 0.02% of your money would be 10 million bucks...wow! Here is one such write-up on the subject...

He could give one million dollars to every man, woman, and child in the U.S. and not dent his wallet.
That is rich.

Bill Gates' worth (Forbes magazine, 2005): USD$46.5 billion dollars.
US population (2005 estimate based on 2000 census): 297.7 million.
46,500,000,000 / 297,700,000 ~= USD$156.20 per person.
Keep working, slackers.

Oracle128,
Why are you dividing the three hundred million people in the country into what he has? One million for each person comes to three hundred million according to my math. Subtract that from $46 billion and I don't think it does him much harm.
Subtraction, not division.

Well it doesn't hurt to ask for a handout if you would do something that was ethical, honest, and noble with it. I think it is called the Bill Gates foundation.
Gates was the guy that stuck up for the little working stiffs on taxes, and said the rich are not paying their fair share of the tax burden. Does that make him the richest liberal? Not sure, but probably and shows he has humanity and hasn't forgot where he comes from.
I just check the site, says he is the Worlds largest donor, and here is the bad news.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awards the majority of its grants to U.S. 501 (c) (3) organizations and other tax exempt organizations identified by foundation staff according to the objectives of our four program areas: Global Health, Education, Global Libraries, and Pacific Northwest.
We favor preventive approaches and collaborative endeavors with government, philanthropic, private sector, and not-for-profit partners. Priority is given to projects that leverage additional support and serve as catalysts for long-term, systemic change.
We do not award grants to individuals, nor to projects that serve an exclusively religious purpose. In addition, letters of inquiry are not accepted by our Education and Global Libraries programs.

Why are you dividing the three hundred million people in the country into what he has?Because my math was based on what would happen if Gates were to divide his entire fortune up among everyone in the US. If you want to do it your way, giving a million dollars to each US citizen and subtracting it from his net worth:
297,700,000 people * $1,000,000 = $297,700,000,000,000
$46,500,000,000 - $297,700,000,000,000 = -297,653,500,000,000
If he were to give 1 million dollars to every man, woman and child in the US, poor old Mr. Gates would be more than 297 trillion dollars in debt. One million for each person comes to three hundred million according to my math. Subtract that from $46 billion and I don't think it does him much harm.Only if there were only 300 residents of the US. I'm sorry to say, your maths is way off.

If he gave his millions out over a period of time, eg 1million per citizen per day or period to be selected, [including interest etc etc] he would eventually have given everyone a million hence confirming the aforementioned theory.;) :leonardo:
I know this is true,my bank manager just told me.:emp:
