Once again I had to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer!!!!

This Is My Story~~~~

I downloaded a PopUp Stoper about 6 hours ago, I was not too happy with the way it worked so I uninstalled it, after it was finished uninstalling it said "your computer must be restarted inorder for the uninstallation to be complete."
Nothing new, "I've seen that message a hundred times".
So I restart my computer, and as it loads up ny desktop a DOS Window opens, "I take another glance" and it says "deleteing files in path C:\Windows" or something like that so I hit the "X" and close it, but it was too late, everything was messed.

Only being my second time reinstalling Windows on my own I try to put the Windows over the Windows, so that I could keep all my files. And It worked:D

But, go figure, when Windows starts up that same piece of S@%$
pops back up and totaly waste's the Windows I just put on,,,,Stupid Me!!!!

And lucky me, I get to do it all over again.
And now I have been spending the rest of my day trying to get all my stuff back.

That Is My Story~~~~

P.S.

That Ultimate Boot Disk CTH has up in downloads, worked great on getting Windows reinstalled, a really nice interface, and easy to use:D

Wow, that story makes me want to bang me' own head in frustration, and it didn't even happen to me! Sounds like you've managed it real well though, thank goodness. Hmmmm - I think I better go check out this download you're talking about ..... errrr, the boot disk, not the pop-up stopper! :-S

Rabbit,

Something doesn't sound right about this.....

Sounds like something malicious is going on. Where did you get this download? I think someone slipped you a major weenie on this, but that is just my first impression. Maybe a security wiz will have something to contribute, but this doesn't sound like a glitch or malfunction.

Glad you are operational now, though.

Hi Silver Rabbit - Could you please email me the link that you downloaded the popup stopper from (and the name of the program you downloaded).

When you download a program from the Internet, do you scan it for viruses before you install it? This really is a must. What anti-virus program are you using? How often do you update your virus signature files? Do you have a firewall on your computer?

I wish I knew,
When ever I download something new I always Book Mark the page, in case I hit a problem and need to contack someone, but all my book marks were lost also.

Yes after, getting many viruses befor, I always have Norton Anti-Virus on.

Thanx' for the support

Silver, I'm not sure that having your AV program "on" is enough!

I always right mouse button click over any files I download, then choose to AV scan that file!! :)
