Question Windows ME Fonts (I think)

I have a problem with ME fonts, when I go into most help files, on the left index contents etc are reading as boxes basically I cannot read the help files, this is also happening in other programmes like windows media in places, outlook express, etc, I presume it is down to the font settings, I cannot correct it, I have reinstalled windows but same thing, can anyone help ?

Hi slowcoach - welcome to CTH. You may have a corrupted MARLETT.TTF. Try restoring a good copy from your WinME CD. Go to Start > Run and type msconfig then use the 'Extract File' button to put a copy into C:\windows.

Now boot to a command prompt with your WinMe startup floppy (if you dont have one you can make one in Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Startup Disk) and type the following commands, pressing enter after each command:

ATTRIB -H C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\MARLETT.TTF
COPY C:\WINDOWS\MARLETT.TTF C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\
ATTRIB +H C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\MARLETT.TTF

See if that helps.
