Post Microsoft Word for Mac

Hi I have Word for Mac and I was wondering why I do not have a file toolbar. It goes across like this Word, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Font, Tools, Window, Work, Help. No other username on my computer, that uses Word, has this problem. PLEASE HELP ME.

Weird. Un-install it and re-install and see if you get it.

The missing toolbar problem in Word is usually caused by a corrupt "normal.dot."

Normal.dot is what Word uses to display the blank document (among other things) when you open it. Normal.dot is not installed when Word is installed. It's created the first time Word is opened. That's why repairing/reinstalling Word doesn't affect the normal.dot file.

To fix it, first open My Computer, go to Tools>Folder Options>Advanced tab and make sure "Show hidden files" is checked and "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked.

Make sure Word is not running, then go to Start>Search, tell it to search for "normal.dot" (without the quotes). Right click on the one it finds, left click on Delete.

Open Word, which creates a new normal.dot, and see if things are back the way they should be.

Oops...my apologies...forgot about the Mac part.

I know absolutely nothing about Macs so I'll move your thread to the Macintosh forum.

Provided Miz is correct (which I'm sure he is ) and the same thing will work on a Mac, you'll find the "Normal.dot" file located in Applications/Microsoft Office X /Templates/Normal You will NOT see the ".dot" suffix, it's just not present on the Mac (even if you have the Mac set to show suffixes) but thisis the file you want -- "Normal".
