any feedback would be appreciated on this question: this is going to get confusing so bear with me..i have cable modem connection and i pay for an extra IP address. i have 3 computers trying to access the internet. i have a 8 port hub and a 2 port router. on one IP address i can connect 2 computers with the 2 port router... and the other computer is by its self on its own IP address... now..how do i set up the hub/router so all can connect? modem to hub to router? modem to router to hub? ( the latter i dont think will work since the router is only 2 port.) have i totally confused you? chime in with your ideas and i will try it..thanks to those that advise, i do appreciate the input http://www.members.cox.net/jb999/network.jpg

I would connect the 3 PC's to the hub and the router to the uplink. Let the router do the DHCP and NAT. Save yourself some $$ and use only 1 IP address.

I would go with Titleist suggesting to save money.

But if you have one setup as a web server, another as a domain control etc... I would buy a 4 port router for the added security which enables you to forward certain ports to the proper ip.
