Help...Lucent (Agere Lucent LT Winmodem)

somebody help!!..Im using Open Suse 10.0, n i cannot connect to internet,because my modem (Agere Lucent LT Winmodem), has an error..everytime i want to connect using kpp..the log will display
1.connect
2.disconnect
3.kppp error code 2 exit

Any body have a solve please...help me..thanx..

Have you been able to succesfully connect to the internet under suse using that modem before? It could be that it is set up wrong, or just will not work properly.

Serial modems work out of the box in linux, you might want to give that a try.

If your Winmodem has the Conexant chip set you can get drivers here (maybe): http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/?PHP...0a76a3675b81c6

To run the modem at 14.4k speed the drivers are free but if you want to run it at 56k you have to purchase the upgrade (I paid $15.00).

If your Winmodem does not have the Conexant chipset you are probably out of luck. As stated above, you would be better off to purchase an external (serial port) modem. I pulled my hair out for days over this same issue until I found Linuxant. There is very little support for Winmodems in Linux.
