Question Internet Explorer: This Page Cannot Be Completed (unless it's local =P)

I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2. The version of IE I have is IE6.0. I am currently using Mozilla Firefox to post this but I need Internet Explorer to run some pages that use ActiveX such as Windows Update. Mozilla Firefox is working perfectly fine along with all my other Internet Programs. Internet Explorer is showing the "This Page Cannot Be Completed" error page everytime I type in a website. I've tried saving a website onto the hard drive with Mozilla Firefox and then running it with Internet Explorer and it works fine but when I'm loading the website from the internet, there are problems. Internet Explorer is not blocked by the firewall either. I am using Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition right now if it matters. There is suspicious activity from Microsoft Spooler (spoolsv.exe) too. After I log into Windows XP, Norton Internet Security keeps saying "Rules Automatically Created for Microsoft Spooler (spoolsv.exe)" and after that little notification goes away, another one comes up.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

(add me please on MSN mess.tup@gmail.com if you think you can help me)

Check the Proxy Server settings between Mozilla and IE to make sure they are the same.

How long has this been happening?
Have you done spyware and virus scans?

You can also try this

Sorry, IEFix did not work for me. I have recently done spyware and virus scans and the only thing my computer found is adware.istbar which is now gone. My computer has none of the symptoms of adware.istbar shown on Symantec Security Response and none of the adware.istbar symptoms say anything about disabling internet explorer. I've tried typing in URLs to websites other than my homepage but this time a notification comes up saying "Internet Explorer could not open the search page [ok]).

Check the proxy settings.

other than that I would suggest posting a HiJackThis log in the CyberSafety forum and maybe running LSP or Winsock fixes.

The HiJack helpers should be able to help you with that.
