apt-get update install limiting script
Hello everyone,
I have succeeded in installing ubuntu onto my aging laptop. My current location is on dial up not only that but the isp disconnects after four hours. When I ran "sudo apt-get update" there were 300 updates available. Because of the dial up problem I went through the GUI and deselected about 250 it took a long time as the gui only shows five or six items. is there a quick and easy script to tell apt to install a number of items or a number of megabytes??

You could do 'sudo apt-get install <package>' if you just wanted to install each package individually. I'm not sure if that answers your question, though.

Hi Kage,
Thanks for that. I did do that with a slight mod #apt-get install <pack 1> <pack2> <pack 3> It took a while but I have everthing except for the new kernel packages (3) Not tooo sure if I want to install those or not..
