knoppix hardisk install
how can i install knoppix from my hd without having to create any partition
to be dual boot with xp? any ideas thanks!

Well, if you don't want to create a partition, the only thing you can do is erase your windows partition and install knoppix to that. To dual boot, however, you have to have two partitions, or two seperate hard drives. Knoppix comes with a built-in partitioning tool called 'qtparted', if you open a terminal and become root (su), then you can type in 'qtparted' to run it. It works similarly to partition magic. Before making any changes to your hard drive, be sure to back up any important data you don't want lost, as it could happen.

I'm no linux guru but knoppix doesn't recommend it's own OS to be installed.
It recommends Gnoppix. You would need to create a new partition either way to dual boot.

ok figure it out! thanks for the tip kage but knoppix can copy its own to the
disk without installing!
