I installed Windows ME. I have a PlusTek Optic Pro 9636T scanner.
ME won't recognize the driver for the scanner. I downloaded the driver from a web site, but to no avail. I can't seem to get the scanner to work with Windows ME although it worked perfectly with Windows 98. Can you help?

Hi Don Closs - welcome to CTH. Do you get any error message after installing the software? If so, could you please post it in full.
Which web site did you download your driver from? According to the Plustek site, the same driver is used for Win9x/ME. Check out Plustek (http://www.plustek.com/) and click on Downloads. Scroll down to your model.

Thank you for responding so quickly. That was very kind of you to do so.
To respond to AnnMarie's questions: I downloaded the Optic_Pro9639T scanner driver from the Plustek web site. It is a zip drive. I opened it and tried to use the WindowsME instalation wizard to install the driver. (I also have the original CD that came with the scanner-the results are the same) I try to install the driver, but the wizard program does not respond.
I may be doing something wrong as I'm not really astute at this kind of thing, but the scanner worked fine with windows98. Since I started WindowsME, it won't work at all.

Hi again Don Closs - try installing from the original CD. Firstly, uninstall any scanner software that you have already installed then reboot. Insert the CD in your CD Rom Drive and if it doesnt autorun, go to My Computer and double click on the CD Rom drive so that it displays the contents of the disk. Look for Setup.exe. When you find it, doubleclick on it and the software should begin installing. Just follow the prompts.
If this doesnt work, your best best is to try installing in Safe Mode. Copy the contents of the installation CD to a folder on your desktop first and follow the above instructions.
Once installed, shut down your computer and turn it off. Then connect your hardware as per the manufacturers instructions.
