So normally I would ask one of the many linux gurus I know however none are availible. (*poke badwayz*)

I recently installed slackware 10.2 and didn't set up to print. We have a network printer which is hooked up to our file server and shared out from there. I don't know how to make it work with my linux machine. I am not even sure what to do. I know how to do it in windows; just not linux.

I am really wanting to print something now rather than waiting for my bf to get home and set it up. Any ideas?

*Update*

We got it all sorted out and now it is working. Ignore said problem.

CUPS (http://www.cups.org/) and SAMBA (http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/) should get you going there.

They got it fixed up. Their setup as not the normal printer connected to a computer type. They mapped the printer as a samba printer thru the file server. What they wanted to do was send LPD directly to it since it supports it but it was late and they were tired hehe.
