An extremely minor post here, but has anybody else noticed that in just about every movie that involves computers and somebody accessing them without permision, we always get the line at some point:
We're in.....!
This has to be THE most over-used line in the history of computer movies...
Don't mind me.....just rambling.....

LOL, I hadnt noticed but you are right Maxx. We're in.....! yells the Happy Hacker. Bank robbers say the same thing after drilling through the vault and I remember saying that to Red Satin after we picked the last lock on Dave's beer fridge :D

Yes that's ridiculous dialog, but watch Hackers now, years later. Then you will see even more ridiculous dialog and hysterical GUIs. And they think 14.4 or 28.8 was good....Haha

Yeah...."Hackers" doesn't fair well with time. Such is the way with the techy movies....
I actually saw the movie for the first time last year. I still get a kick out the way that hackers are portrayed in general. You ever notice that hackers always seem to wear black clothing...LOL :D :D
Personally...I like to wear dark clothing..............guess I am a hacker at heart. :D :D
BTW...........................................WE'R E IN!

I believe the computer from War Games name was W.H.O.P.P.E.R. (think that is how it is spelled). Don't know what the name stands for, all I remember was it was hugh, made a loud humming noise, and had a really cryptic voice.
How about futuristic hacker movies, the only one that I can really think of is Johhny Mnemonic. Which was a terrible movie, thanks to mister surfer dude Keanu Reeves. The short story was great, they should have stuck more closely to the story.
Some other great William Gibson books that should be movies is his triliogy of Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive. Also his short story Hinterlands (in his short story collection book "Burning Chrome"). If you haven't read any of these stories, I suggest you pick them up today, these are some of the best sci-fi books of all time. I wouldn't even call them sci-fi, rather I would label them as perdictions of the future.
Can anyone think of other futuristic hacker movies?
"How about a game of chess?" (in a cryptic computer voice)

LOL too true Maxx
Weird Science was another - just a techie(ish) movie but what teenager could forget it :P Those HUGE computers which were almost twice the size of the good ol' BBC B comps.
Hackers was a terrible movie. It always amazes me how movie makers feel the need to completely dumb down what a hacker may do. Or have the token binary digits whizz past quicker than a dir /w on Bill Gates' bank account.
heh ALL that and not one mention of Kellly LeBrock :p :D
