Okay, I'm puzzled. I recently had to downgrade from my cable modem connection back to dialup. However, I can't get Windows to recognize that I have a modem installed. I've tried everything I can think of.
I have also downloaded the driver from the manufacturer, run the installation, only to have it seem to work and recognize that the modem is there, but, not be able to find files to complete the installation.
Anytime I try to physically reinstall the modem, Windows recognizes the modem as "PCI Card" but not as a modem.
A friend tells me that he has another friend with the same problem (going from a cable modem to dialup using Win ME) and that they couldn't figure out what to do. Their ultimate solution was to reinstall ME. My problem with doing that is that I, for some unknown reason, no longer possess my ME disc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot. Of course, removing the protocols was the one thing I wasn't doing. It works now.
