links stop working

I started getting this problem in the last few weeks. Everything on the internet works fine when I first go to whatever page I'm at, but the longer I'm at a certain page, the slower links and things seem to go. For example, when I use ebay, i'll use the search funciton and it works fine at first, but after being on ebay for a while, I'll click the links and things and all that happens in the progress bar at the bottom of the firefox window stays white and does nothing. Then if I restart my computer and start over it goes through the same process again. Sorry if I made this sound really confusing. Any ideas what could be going wrong here, because I ran adware and that found nothing and I also ran microsoft antispyware and that came up with nothing as well. Ideas?
