"Work offline" - :curse:

I swear that if I see this "Work Offline" message again, I'm gonna become a monk, and never work with\use PCs again!
Please someone, can you tell me why I keep getting this message? I am on Broadband. I use IE6 mostly, all my network settings are correct - verified by my broadband provider, and checking with a few other forum suggestions. I have checked the 2 registry settings (the ones about LOADSENS and LoadLCE), which someone had posted on another forum, and I have checked the Automatically Detect Settings too.
TBH, the issue doesn't happen that often, but I am trying to setup a contact management prog, and it keeps saying that I don't have a network connection whenever I try to do something, and I am CONVINCED that it is my PC, rather than the prog, that is at fault, since I occasionally have my browser tell me the same thing.

Please, if you have any suggestions, I am at your mercy!

S.

Are you always connected or do you have to connect each day?
Do you have IE set to Never dial a connection?

Is the problem program configured correctly for internet access and is it allowed past any firewalls?

I am permanently connected, and also IE is set to Never Dial.
The program in question is set with the relevant access permissions in my Firewall list, yes.

Hello Scoobydo....

Do u have ICQ2003 beta installed ? If u have that program, then uninstall it.You said that "I have checked the 2 registry settings (the ones about LOADSENS and LoadLCE), which someone had posted on another forum"......Did you try to find this :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

If you find an entry called "loadwc", delete it and reboot again.

If you dont find it in the RUN folder, then try to locate a program located by clicking on START > SEARCH and then find the program LOADWC.EXE.If you find that program then rename this program to LOADWC.EX_ or delete this program.Restart the computer and go the registry editor again to make the changes given below.

After having done this, do these steps :

Using regedit, find the folder:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WebCheck

And check that these two *String* keys are set to auto:
"LoadSens"="auto"
"LoadLCE"="auto"

The reason why we had to rename or delete LOADWC.EXE was because it changed the values of Loadsens and LoadLCE from AUTO to YES again on restart.Hence this change has to be done.

Now after having changed the values to AUTO for LoadSens and LoadLCE,please restart your computer.Once you are back, check if this Workoffline thing is popping up again.

If 'YES',then simply go ahead and delete LoadSens and LoadLCE from the registry and restart your computer.

I would like to know if this resolved your issue.Do post your feedback.

Thanks and Goodluck !

Kzhitij
