Unhappy Internet Explorer will not load

I posted my hjt log over in the spyware/viruses forum and was told that it didn't look like a malware problem, and that I should post over here instead.. so.. here goes. A couple of days ago my ip address changed. I'm guessing my service provider did it for whatever reason? I have a cable modem. Well, since this change I haven't been able to use internet explorer. when I try to load it all I get is a blank screen with the loading icon constantly going. Firefox is working fine. I have run norton, avg, trend micro, adaware, spybot.. all clear. I have also tried to uninstall and reinstall internet explorer. This didn't work. It said that it couldn't connect bc of possible proxy problems or that the server was busy? I don't have a proxy.

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Check in IE connection settings.
Click the LAN settings and see what options are checked.

No proxy server settings?

You could try repairing IE
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

You could also try Maxthon or Avant to see if they work. They work from the IE engine.

Ok, IEfix wouldn't work because I can't find the disk it is asking for.. I downloaded both of the browsers you listed and neither of them worked..

You will need your XP CD to complete the IE Fix.

I have the same issue, and am awaiting a review of my hjt and silentrunner logs in another thread. I didn't see anything scary in them, so I expect they won't be of much help. I also tried the IEFix util, however, the issue remains.

Figured out my problem was a download aide that was not playing nicely with IE6. The details are outlined in another thread on this site: http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...d.php?t=100449
