Angry Java

I have a winxp home editon (SP2) and i am useing mozilla firefox 1.5 and i have a problem with java. alot of time if i use a java applet or i go on a website that uses java i can't see it for example: i go to games.yahoo.com and click on any random game lets say chess i click on it the window opens and there the white box and theres a red x on it. and it says near the bottom of that window java applet failed or something like that. i have Java: version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_06-b05) .... java plug in: Java (tm) 2 runtime enviroment standard edition 1.3.1

Default virtual machine version 1.3.1-b24

Java (TM) plug in 1.3.1 and this happens alot. i go on alot of website's that use java and because of that red x i can't veiw them i did what they told me on the java website but it don't help... i try uninstalling java and reinstalling serveal times nothing. this has been happening for about 2-4 weeks now. please help me.

Are there any Exceptions reported by the Java Console, and if so what do they say?
