I am experiencing a problem with IE 6.

After I installed a recommended security update for IE, I was not able to open more than 1 window at a time.

It was suggested that I go to the help file on the MS site and get repair/correction instructions.

I checked my registery as suggested and found that the settings matche the proper configurations.

I then reinstalled it, as suggested, and checked the configurations and again found them to be correct.

But it still will only bring up 1 window at a time. :hmm:
i.e. when I try to open a second IE window it simply replaces the existing one with a new one.

Can anyone else help?

Thank you & Happy Holidays to all.;)

To try the easiest thing first, in IE go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Scroll down to "Reuse window for launching shortcuts" and if it's checked, uncheck it, click OK. See if that corrects the problem.

If it's not checked, check it, click OK, close IE. Reopen IE, go back and re-check "Reuse window for launching shortcuts," click OK, close IE. Reopen IE and see if that jogged it back into letting multiple windows open.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I tried solving the problem per your instructions but that did not change anything.

I tried every combination of of checking and unchecking, clicking just "Ok", clicking "Apply" and then "OK" that there was and the problem still persists.

Any other suggestions will be welcome.

P.S. If I end up doing a "System Restore" to try to solve this problem, can anyone tell me if I wil lose any files that I had created after the "Restore" date? I ask this because I do not know what files were created during my updating downloads.
