My video editing programs keep crashing!

There is some 45 minutes of handy cam footage that I have to edit and save. I installed Pinnacle Studio 9, but when I tried to import the video it came up with an error message and closed itself afterwards. I uninstalled and reinstalled it again, but it had the exact same problem.

So I installed Ulead video studio 8. This one didn’t even open. When I double click it, the mouse pointer gets busy for 2 seconds, but nothing happens afterwards. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled this one too, but to no avail

Any help is appreciated guys.

My computer has 1 Gb of RAM, and a 3.4 GHz processor.

Pinnacle studio might've been. Ulead however was from a CD. Seeing how they both have the same problem, I'm thinking there might be something to do with windows?
