Hey,
I have a problem with my road runner modem and my D-Link router. It always used to work fine, with some exceptions of it going on once in a while, until yesterday afternoon. How I have the setup in the cable goes through the modem and then another cable links the modem to my router. This cable plugs into the WAN port on my router. Then from the router I take one last cord and plug it into one of the four ports and link it to my back of my computer. Theoretically I should interent for my computer and whatever I plug into the four ports right? Well what happens is the Cable light is always lit up on the modem and so is the power, but when connected to the router the PC and Data buttons flash on and off constantly. In that case, it would make sense that I wouldn't be getting interent if they were losing connection and gaining conection over and over. Now if I plug my modem directly to my computer, it works fine. All the lights light up except the test one abd the data one blinks. So what's wrong with the connection to my router? Any suggestions?

Welcome :)

Can you access the router config?
Is the router getting a WAN IP?

I am completely new to all this networking stuff, if you could tell me how to access that, that'd be great. I have a basic knowledge of command prompt, so I could also figure out my ip address.

Check the manual for the instructions

You should have the manual for you router model. If not in a hard copy then on the CD that came with it.

or you can download it from the DLink website.
